Blogger Spotlight: Before Summer Ends With Andrea Luis

Have you ever wished to go to the beach but due to the bad weather or any other ill-fated circumstances, you have to stay home or just enjoy the pool?

It wouldn’t be so bad at all when the first thing you’d want to avoid of are rip currents which are only present at the beach. Just imagine the unforgiving UV rays, the very inviting beach bars that could only send you to hell the morning after, the huge waves that might eat you up, so on and so forth, and you can still enjoy the indoors, especially if a pool is available. Except, there’s nothing like the calming sound of the waves.

Just like Andrea Luis! A Filipino blogger based in Manila and Sydney! She shot this photoshoot with Mandy Martinez a day before she went back home to Australia. Know more about her in this short interview we had with her.

  • When did you start blogging? Are you based in Australia then you just visit Philippines every holiday/summer?

Andrea: Honestly, I wouldn’t consider myself a blogger but I do aspire to be an online influencer and hopefully be able to broaden my network someday. I am based here in the Manila actually but I do constantly travel to Sydney a few times within a year.

  • In your Manila vacation, what are the most memorable trips (or events) that happened? Did you go to an island getaway with your friends?

Andrea: I am very outdoorsy girl so during my holiday in Sydney we always do a lot of climbing, surfing, hiking, beach volleyball and coastal walks. Here in Manila, when my friends and I go for holidays, we mostly love hitting the beach and going on road trips. The most memorable trips we’ve had so far was our trip last year to Sagada and our recent trip to Subic.

  • What is your favorite thing about summer? And what will you miss about it, knowing it’s winter in Australia?

Andrea: My favorite thing about summer would have to be being able to wear my swimmers! And just mostly dressing up in a very relaxed and chilled-out style. It’s mostly always winter when I travel to Sydney so I don’t really get ot spend summer here in Manila that long.

  • Any advice for girls who are shy/not comfortable wearing swimsuits? (I’m trying to encourage girls—thin or chubby sizes—that it’s okay to be in bikinis/swimwear. I noticed that girls rather wear rashguards + shorts at the beach so maybe some advice from bloggers might make them empowered in some way.)

Andrea: The best advice that I can give to girls who aren’t really comfortable wearing swimmers would have to be: LOVE YOURSELF AND LEARN TO BE COMFORTABLE IN YOUR OWN SKIN. Like me, I don’t really have the ideal swimsuit bombshell body type (I actually have more of an athletic built if you see me in person) but I always just carry myself wih confidence and I don’t really pay attention to what others would think of me. If I want to wear my swimmers and enjoy myself under the sun, then I will! I have heaps of friends who are actually more on the “heavier” side and most times whether they’ll be wearing their onesies (and more often)their bikinis, they end up being the head-turners of the group! <3
